Kate Vozella (she/her) is a New York-based theatre maker. Her work examines the relationship between nature, the machine, and the human that sits restlessly between them. Her stories explore what happens to our ideas about identity, intimacy, and desire as technology develops faster than our ability to understand its consequences. Her play Machine Learning will make its New York off-broadway premiere in October 2026. She was recently a finalist for the Cherry Lane Playwrights Collective 2026, led by Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker, and for the Australian Theatre Festival NYC New Play Award for her play This Motherless Earth (2024), which was recently selected to be developed through Theaterlab's Hotel New Work residency (2026). Her first full-length play, Burning Falling Rising Monster, was shortlisted by Platform Presents in 2020 and later adapted into a short film starring Kyle Soller and Phoebe Fox. Her debut screenplay, MIA, was directed by Jac Fitzgerald, with Kate starring opposite Jason Butler Harner. The project won Best Original Story at the Cannes World Film Festival in 2021, and also received nominations for Best Actress (Vozella), and Best Director (Fitzgerald). Kate's work has been featured at the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, the Seymour Centre in Sydney, Platform Presents in London, Theaterlab and the Drama League in New York, as well as on Google Arts & Culture and Marquee TV.
